The best Fabrication Station upgrades to get in Pacific Drive

Pacific Drive, a roguelike survival game from developer Ironwood Studios and publisher Kepler Interactive, "Juegos De" takes you on a harrowing journey through the northwestern United States. Upon your arrival in the Olympic Exclusion Zone, you realize that there’s something terribly wrong. Numerous anomalies and hazards bar your escape, borne from experiments gone awry. Your only choice is to continue driving while taking care of your car.

Our Pacific Drive best Fabrication Station upgrades guide discusses the unlockable perks and craftable items that are ideal for the long road ahead. If you have the proper upgrades for your vehicle, you should be well-prepared for potential dangers you'll encounter on your quest.

How to unlock the best upgrades in Pacific Drive

You can unlock the best upgrades in Pacific Drive by selecting them in the Fabrication Station, a machine in the Auto Shop hub. It has several categories, such as structures added to your garage, refined materials, higher-tier parts for your car, extra storage, and more. However, each upgrade requires certain materials and previous unlocks (such as scanning a specific type of vehicle or object), as well as Anchor Energy.

You learn about Anchor Energy during a mission called “Into the Wilderness.” The goal is to collect an orb from a machine and then place it inside the Arc Device on the passenger seat.

Upon gathering enough Anchor Energy, you’ll be able to open a Gateway, a portal that will lead you back to the Auto Shop hub. However, this will cause the zone’s stability to collapse, and a devastating irradiated wave will close in on you as you attempt your escape. Think of it as akin to the deadly storm in Fortnite.

How to spend Anchor Energy to unlock upgrades
The Best Fabrication Station Upgrades In Pacific Drive Wilderness
If you manage to return to the Auto Shop hub in one piece, check the Fabrication Station to see how much Anchor Energy you’ve earned. "juegos de 20" Note the various types you obtain as you progress further into other zones:
  • Stable Energy - Collected from Anchors in the Outer Zone.
  • Unstable Energy - Collected from Anchors in the Mid-Zone.
  • Corrupted Energy - Collected from Anchors in the Deep Zone.
Keep in mind that the roguelite nature of the campaign means that you retain all upgrades that you’ve previously unlocked, even if your character perishes during a mission. Since you still need various resources, unlock prerequisites, and different types of Energy, it’s important to consider which perks or craftable items should be prioritized. It’s also why our Pacific Drive best upgrades guide is organized based on what truly helped us during our playthrough.

Garage upgrades: Scanning Antenna perks, Matter Regenerator, and Advanced Workbench

Most of the upgrades that you want to prioritize in Pacific Drive are found in the Garage tab. These include the following:
  • Matter Deconstructor
    • Energy: 0.8 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 35x Scrap Metal, 4x Gear, and 4x Electronics
    • Research: Gear
    • Usage: You can use this machine to recycle damaged parts, turning them into Scrap Metal and other crafting components.
  • Improved Antenna
    • Energy: 1.5 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Circuit Board, 8x Plasma, and 50x Scrap Metal
    • Research: Circuit Board
    • Usage: This allows you to scan up to three locations on the Route Planner, giving you information regarding resources, landmarks, and anomalies.
  • Advanced Workbench
    • Energy: 3 Unstable Energy
    • Materials: 4x Steel Sheet, 5x Gas Cylinder, 7x Electronics, and 10x Copper Wire
    • Research: Steel Sheet
    • Usage: You’re going to need this down the line to craft high-end contraptions.
As you advance further into the campaign, we recommend unlocking the Junction Restabilizer and Junction Bypass perks. The latter is one of the best upgrades in Pacific Drive. It lets you skip an area, which means you can travel directly to your destination. It also ensures that your vehicle does not take too much damage when going through dangerous zones.

Garage upgrades: Expanded Lockers and Outfitting Station

There are other Garage upgrades that you should consider, especially if you need inventory space:
  • Outfitting Station
    • Energy: 0.3 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 7x Scrap Metal, 15x Plastic, 2x Chemicals, and 2x Gas Cylinder
    • Usage: This workbench allows you to craft clothing pieces that add resistance against different types of environmental hazards. More importantly, it lets you increase your backpack’s inventory slots.
  • Expanded Lockers
    • Energy: Stable Energy - Gradually increases the more you create.
    • Materials: Steel Sheet - Gradually increases the more you create.
    • Usage: You can place additional lockers in the Auto Shop hub so you always have space to store your items.
Car Parts upgrades: Steel Bumper, Panel, and Door
The Best Fabrication Station Upgrades In Pacific Drive Steel Sheet
We recommend unlocking Steel Sheets in the Refine tab as soon as possible. It only requires 0.2 Stable Energy and 1x Fabric. This material, which is crafted using Scrap Metal, allows you to make Steel Bumpers, Steel Doors, and Steel Panels. Note that each blueprint has to be unlocked first.

Having parts made of Steel components should last you until the later stages of the campaign, as long as you’re fairly careful when you drive across the Mid-Zone and Deep Zone. However, juegos de 2, you may also select from other mid-game variants:
  • Armored - Increased resistance against impact and explosive damage.
  • Insulated - Increased resistance against electrical damage; nullifies the “charged” status effect.
  • Lead-Plated - Increased resistance against radiation damage.
Fuel: Side Rack and Side Fuel Tank

You absolutely need a lot of gas in the tank if you want to make it back to your base. That’s why we recommend the following:
  • Expansion Racks: Side Rack
    • Energy: 0.5 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 2x Steel Sheet
  • Fuel: Side Fuel Tank
    • Energy: 0.8 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Fabric
Apart from the Large Fuel Can, which is a prerequisite upgrade, you should have enough fuel for a long trek. Just try to prevent the Side Fuel Tank from getting damaged too often.

Light sources: Crude Flashlight and Insulated Headlight

We feel that a couple of the best upgrades in Pacific Drive are those that light your way. This is a given since you’re likely to travel when it’s nighttime, and because there are areas that are shrouded in perpetual darkness. Here are our picks:
  • Insulated Headlight
    • Energy: 1 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Fabric
    • Research: Bulb and Advanced Workbench
    • Scan: Sizzling Mist anomaly
    • Usage: While the Insulated Headlight has as much HP as a regular Headlight, it does have 50% electrical resistance and it nullifies the “charged” status effect. The Insulated Headlight can last longer, especially when you’re up against electro-organic anomalies that can short circuit your devices.
  • Crude Flashlight
    • Energy: 0.4 Unstable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Fabric
    • Research: Bulb
    • Usage: If you like to explore on foot, then the Crude Flashlight is a better option compared to Road Flares.
Survival Tools: Early-game options, Hand-Vac, and Liberator

Early in the campaign, you get to craft the Prybar, Scrapper, and Impact Hammer. You also learn about consumable items used to repair parts, such as the Repair Putty and Electrician’s Kit. From there, we suggest unlocking these additional tools.
  • Liberator
    • Energy: 1 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Fabric
    • Usage: The Liberator carefully removes sections of abandoned vehicles so that they can be attached and transferred to your car instead.
  • Hand-Vac
    • Energy: 0.9 Stable Energy
    • Materials: 1x Fabric
    • Usage: The Hand-Vac pulls in resources that would take you a while to gather. Examples include Marsh Eggs and Swamp Corals, which are found in the Mid-Zone. The faster you gather these, the more manageable your runs would be.
Utilities: LIMPulse Emitter

Early in our playthrough, we were fine just using the LIMPulse Emitter. When activated, it triggers an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that fries nearby organic and electro-organic entities. This allowed us to get rid of nasty anomalies, such as Bubblegum Buddies and Dust Bunnies. This upgrade only requires 1 Stable Energy and 2x Fabric, as well as a successful scan of any Bunny-type anomaly.

Much later, though, we encourage you to get the Ion Shield. While it’s active, it negates radiation damage (up to a certain threshold). Just keep in mind that using these perks drains your car’s battery. As such, we advise you to obtain options from the Battery tab, such as the Battery Jumper and Lighting Rod. Alternatively, try to locate a Charge Stop station while you’re exploring junctions.

Engine: Turbolight Engine

If you have enough resources, we suggest unlocking the Turbolight Engine. It requires 4 Stable Energy, 3x Fabric, and the Steel Sheet research (and you still need to craft the motor afterward, of course). The Turbolight Engine has more horsepower compared to the default Carbureted Engine, so you can outrun the death zone with ease.

These are our suggestions when it comes to the best Fabrication Station upgrades in Pacific Drive. We hope that our recommendations help you as you travel across the inhospitable Olympic Exclusion Zone.

Those who want to brave the dangers of the road should pick up Pacific Drive, which is available now on the Epic Games Store. The Deluxe Edition of the game also includes sci-fi-themed decal kits, bobbleheads, and other cosmetics.
